The blood donation room designed by brandherm + krumrey on the university campus in Hamburg has been awarded 3rd place at the German Interior Design Award 2019. The Birkenstock showroom in Tokyo also received an award. The prize is the most prestigious award in the industry and is presented by the Association of German Interior Designers (bdia) only every four years. Awards and prizes are given to innovative projects that have been conceived, designed and executed in an exemplary manner.
This year, the jury nominated 27 projects from more than 110 submissions, of which again only four were awarded prizes. Among the nominees were two projects by brandherm + krumrey. In addition to the award-winning Blood Donor Room, the award-winning Birkenstock Showroom in Tokyo was also published in the bdia Handbook 2019/20. The award ceremony of the German Interior Design Award took place on the occasion of the German Architects’ Day on September 27 in Berlin. At the award ceremony, not only the exceptional interior design of the blood donation room was highlighted, but also the “creative materials and design forms”.
