What are the added values that gastronomic concepts can offer today? The Best Restaurants and Bars competition addresses exactly this question. This year, Callwey Verlag presented the interior award for the fifth time — and this year, two of our projects were distinguished. The catering area at the Birkenstock headquarters in Cologne was voted one of the top three projects in the Café & Bistro category and was thus singled out for special mention. Moreover, the jury of experts ranked the LIST Group’s headquarters in Nordhorn and Bielefeld among the top 50 gastronomy concepts in German-speaking countries.

The jury described the interior design of the Birkenstock Corner at the fashion label’s headquarters in Cologne as an exciting challenge. The open-plan catering and meeting areas with café, lounge and showroom blend in with the interior of a historical harbour warehouse dating from 1898. Located in Cologne’s Rheinauhafen, the building’s round columns and historical groined vaults create an impressive atmosphere. Our loosely structured interior for the gastronomic area contrasts this ambience with a modern design and emphasises the open spatial impression. The interiors of the two LIST Group headquarters in Nordhorn and Bielefeld are also exceptionally open. The architecture firm RKW Architektur + designed the buildings like a hangar. The deli with a healthy food concept that we designed is an added value for the employees. As a homely lounge island, this area not only invites people to eat there, but also to use it during breaks, for work or meetings.
