Vernissage with Susanne Brandherm at the Peter Behrens School of Arts, Düsseldorf
The bdia Handbook Interior Architecture 2023/2024 will be accompanied by an exhibition in Düsseldorf. The North Rhine-Westphalian regional association of the bdia will present the current edition from April 10 to 17 at the Peter Behrens School of Arts. The exhibition will be opened with a vernissage at which Susanne Brandherm will present our two projects that are featured in this book: The restaurant at the locomotive shed in Marburg and the interior design for an apartment in Cologne’s Gerling Quartier were selected along with 23 other entries for the latest handbook.
Every year, the bdia Handbook provides inspiration with outstanding examples of interior architecture. Our projects in the current issue are linked by the special environment in revitalised historical buildings. In the case of the Marburg locomotive shed, the transformation of the historical railway building into a modern restaurant inspired by the existing building was an exciting challenge. The interior design of the apartment in Cologne’s Gerling tower block from the 1950s is also influenced by the existing building and picks up on the formal and material vocabulary of early post-war modernism. In addition to Susanne Brandherm, who teaches interior architecture at the PBSA, Jens Wendland from raumkontor and Jochen Usinger from ukw Innenarchitekten will present their projects at the vernissage.
