List Group Hamburg

Work with harbor view

In the middle of Hamburg and directly on the water, brandherm + krumrey has implemented a project for the List Group. A new office world with loft character was created in the Elbkaihaus at Fischmarkt. The spacious room concept offers plenty of room for different work situations and emphasizes the industrial charm of the building as well as the special harbor ambience. Located directly on the banks of the Elbe, the Elbkaihaus originally served as an engine house. During the reconstruction at the end of the 1990s, the renowned architects von Gerkan Marg und Partner equipped the complex with generous glass facades. This openness was the guiding principle for the interior design, which at the same time offers enough space for retreat. Three subsidiaries of the List Group are located at the site, for which a new-work concept with various team zones and meeting areas was implemented. The arrangement of the workspaces appears free. A mix of companies is intended – people share rooms and team zones, creating additional synergy effects. Contributing to the design of the spaces and the contradiction of the existing structure and the new fixtures is the choice of warm and soft materials that contrast the industrial character of the area. Other materials, such as an orange-colored canted metal sheet or the construction steel mats used in the counter, refer to the List Group’s business segment and at the same time correspond with the existing surfaces of the former machine house. One highlight is the almost unobstructed panorama that opens up through the floor-to-ceiling windows: From the desks, the view sweeps over the Elbe and neighboring port facilities.
