Hyperion Hotel Hamburg

Urban understatement

The Hyperion Hotel in Hamburg was built as the final building block in the neighborhood development between Hamburg’s city center and HafenCity. Close to the Elbe River, the four-star superior hotel offers 254 rooms and suites. A challenge for the design was the location between two main traffic axes. The answer from brandherm + krumrey: visual calm and Hanseatic understatement. Instead of loud gestures, the focus was on a coherent appearance. Clean lines and black and white contrasts define the design of the hotel rooms. Orange hues and natural materials such as oak wood set homely accents. The flowing transition between the bathroom and the sleeping area ensures an open spatial impression. The ambience, which is as reduced as it is valuable, conveys a feeling of comfort. The guest is welcomed by pleasant restraint.
