Susanne Brandherm studied interior architecture at the University of Applied Sciences in Detmold. After holding various positions in renowned interior design offices in Cologne, she founded brandherm + krumrey interior architecture in 1999 together with Sabine Krumrey, whose Cologne office she heads.
Susanne Brandherm has received several awards for her work – including the INsider Award 2013 and the German Interior Design Award 2019 from the Association of German Interior Designers (bdia).
In addition to her practical work, she is also involved in teaching: from 2013 to 2015, she was a lecturer at Trier University of Applied Sciences and currently has a teaching position at Düsseldorf University of Applied Sciences (PBSA). She has been a member of the board of trustees of the architect@work Germany trade fair since 2012 and was appointed to the advisory board of the BDIA NRW in October 2024. From 2026, she will assume the office of honorary Vice President of the bdia.
Susanne Brandherm is also regularly active in jury activities, lecture series and specialist publications and has received numerous other awards for her outstanding interior design achievements.
Since 2002, she has also been a volunteer board member of the Karl Bröcker Foundation “Future for Children”.
