REWE Trakt X
With Trakt X for REWE in Hürth, b-k-i have created atmospheric spaces that encourage mutual exchange and promote re-thinking.
In a working culture increasingly dominated by remote working and home-office, time spent together as a team is becoming increasingly significant. Rarer and therefore more valuable, companies need to make this time both efficient and inspiring. After all, places that foster a culture of reflection, shared learning and creative collaboration contribute significantly to the further development of companies and enhance employee satisfaction and well-being.
With Trakt X for the REWE West branch in Hürth, the interior architecture firm brandherm + krumrey interior architecture (b-k-i) has created an environment that meets these requirements. Covering an area of around 480 m², an open-plan office space in an existing building has been transformed into a versatile training and event area that facilitates knowledge transfer, creativity and inspiration. The result is an atmospheric place where people, ideas and perspectives come together.
The concept centers on exchange and participation: differently zoned areas create spaces for concentrated learning, lively discussions and large events with up to 50 participants. Transparent glass folding walls allow areas to be opened or closed flexibly, creating intimate workshop situations or spacious meeting places as required. The design focuses on warm, natural materials. Light-coloured linoleum and carpet coverings, acoustic ceiling elements and selected furniture optimise both sound and spatial perception, while a carefully coordinated colour and lighting palette creates an atmosphere that combines professionalism and wellbeing. The central #UMDENKBAR (a play of words: re-thinkable and bar) lends the environment a narrative touch and conveys the idea of change. It is not only a meeting place but also symbolises the aspiration to question the familiar and develop new perspectives together: encounter as an impetus for advancement.
With REWE Trakt X, b-k-i demonstrates once again how interior design goes far beyond functionality: it becomes a medium for dialogue, identity and culture. Spaces that convey attitude and create atmosphere can have a lasting impact on working culture – this is precisely what b-k-i has stood for over 25 years.
