The new volume “Arztpraxen” (“Medical Practices”) shows perfect examples of architecture and interior design in the healthcare sector. Featuring three projects by brandherm + krumrey, the publication presents contemporary doctor’s surgeries in Germany, Austria and Switzerland. The comprehensive publication is prefaced by an article on the general prerequisites and history of this building category. Over 500 photographs and plans illustrate the selected projects. Accompanying texts explain how the individual conditions led to unique solutions.
First and foremost, a modern practice must meet functional requirements. In addition, this new publication highlights the diversity of possible options. The broader spectrum of requirements can include a special ambience that appeals to the patient group, a specific floor plan solution that is derived from the respective therapy or an exceptional scenography in the waiting area. This is illustrated, among other examples, by three projects designed by brandherm + krumrey: the Förster-Marenbach orthodontic practice in Cologne, the blood donation room on the university campus in Hamburg and the Kardimed cardiology practice in Cologne’s Media Park.
