On September 28, an extraordinary exhibition will be on display at our Cologne location: For the first time, the show features around 100 drawings from the childhood and youth of renowned and aspiring architects. Under the title “How we learned to walk” early works of many renowned creators are presented: bold houses and fantastic rooms, daredevil ideas and colorful creations, crazy and practical. Initiated by the trade journal AIT, the traveling exhibition will tour German planning offices in September and October. A book publication with the presented drawings will be published afterwards.
That which is part of the everyday life of all creative people is usually deeply rooted in the imagination of childhood. That’s why many architects even back then took up pen and paper and immersed themselves in their fantasies. But do these early works already show details that today appear as his own handwriting? And what role do the ideas of the time play in your own design process? Against the background of these questions, designers from all over Germany were asked by the AIT to submit drawings from their earliest creative period. The results can be seen on September 28 on the forecourt of our Cologne studio in Schanzenstraße. Interested parties can stop by for a snack throughout the day and check out the exhibit. We look forward to many visitors and a lively exchange.
The exhibition will be held in the covered outdoor space in compliance with the general rules of distance and hygiene.
