The Bund Deutscher Innenarchitekten (bdia, Association of German Interior Architects/ Designers) is the largest and most important interior architecture association in Germany. In the current bdia handbook, the association presents selected projects to demonstrate the diversity and quality of interior architecture. These include two projects by brandherm + krumrey, which are described as outstanding examples of interior architecture.
The topic of this year’s bdia handbook is the complex requirements for the design of working environments. The book features interiors that are geared to people’s needs and where people are able to work well and above all with pleasure. Among the 24 selected projects is the Birkenstock Showroom in Tokyo by brandherm + krumrey as well as the blood donation room on the university campus in Hamburg, which is described as a “surprisingly cool event location”. To acknowledge outstanding achievements in the field of interior architecture, the bdia is also awarding the German Interior Architecture Prize 2019. The award ceremony will take place on the occasion of the German Architects’ Day on September 27 in Berlin.
With the projects published in the handbook, bdia is organising a travelling exhibition. First dates are:
July 10 – 18, 2019: AIT Salon, Munich
August 3 – 31, 2019: KAMUNA in Karlsruhe
September 10 – 17, 2019: AIT Salon Hamburg
