The Blood Donation Room on the Hamburg University Campus, designed by brandherm + krumrey, was awarded 3rd place at the German Interior Architecture Award 2019. The prize is the most prestigious distinction in the industry and is conferred by the Association of German Interior Architects (bdia, Bund Deutscher Innenarchitekten) only every four years. The award is presented to innovative projects that have been conceived, designed and implemented in an exemplary manner.
This year, the jury nominated 27 projects from over 110 submissions, of which only four received awards. Among the nominees were two projects from brandherm + krumrey. In addition to the Birkenstock Showroom in Tokyo, the award-winning Blood Donation Room has also been published in the bdia handbook 2019/2020. The presentation ceremony for the German Interior Architecture Award took place on the occasion of the German Architects’ Day on September 27 in Berlin. At the award ceremony, both the outstanding interior design of the Blood Donation Room and the “creative materials and design forms” were highlighted.
