We are delighted to have received the German Design Award 2022 for our Max-Planck-Institute project in Hamburg. The international jury selected our redesign of the public areas of the institute as one of the best entries. In the categorie Interior Architecture the project was awarded as “Winner”. The German Design Award honours outstanding design achievements and celebrates its tenth anniversary this year.
Being declared a “Winner” honours our interior design implemented at the Max Planck Institute for Comparative and International Private Law in Hamburg. The invigorating spatial concept we developed gives the institute’s central common areas a refreshing new look. By continuing the existing materiality and colour scheme, we created an inspiring ambience for research and exchange. The newly designed Café Max is an inviting place for research, meetings or relaxed conversations. In the context of this design for international knowledge transfer, this year’s motto of the German Design Award is all the more fitting: “How Designers Think” has been the theme for the current competition, which awards groundbreaking solutions for the challenges of our time. The award ceremony will take place in Frankfurt on the Main in February 2022.
