The new bdia Interior Architecture Handbook has been published – and this time, it’s a very special edition. Not only because it is the anniversary issue celebrating the 70th anniversary of the bdia. The cover also features our Max Planck Institute project in Hamburg. With the newly designed Café Max emblazoned on the cover, the handbook again highlights current trends and the outstanding design quality of interior architecture in Germany.
The anniversary edition focuses on future topics in interior architecture with three specialist articles and 25 recently completed projects – including the Max Planck Institute in Hamburg and the Birkenstock Group Headquarters in Cologne’s Rheinauhafen, which is also one of our designs. For each of the annual bdia Handbooks, a jury of experts selects outstanding examples of current interior architecture. Our projects have been included for the fourth year in a row. “Belebend neu” (“Invigoratingly new”) is the title for our contribution to the redesign of the public spaces at the Max Planck Institute, for which we have already received this year’s German Design Award. Birkenstock’s Cologne office and showroom areas, which were integrated into two historical harbour warehouses, are presented as an “impressive working environment” (“Eindrucksvolle Arbeitswelt”). The bdia handbook is now available in stores or can be ordered using ISBN 978-3-7667-2559-2.
